Small Fandoms Bang

Our fifth round at smallfandombang has come to an end! I’d like to thank everyone who participated this year and helped make this round a huge success. Whether you were an author or an artist, a beta or a cheerleader, or a someone who left a comment, your participation is appreciated.

I’d especially like to thank our pinch-hit artists and those artists who stepped up and took on the task of creating artwork for more than one story. You have my heartfelt thanks.

Summary: Now that Logy has returned from Central City, there's a lot to talk about and a relationship to redefine. Unfortunately, Escha and Logy are better at getting into trouble than getting things off their chest.

Atlantis (BBC):

Everything Else In Between by yassandra4 (Jason & Pythagoras; PG; Hurt/Comfort, Friendship, Angst)
Summary: Jason never asked to be thrust into Atlantis and separated from the world he grew up in. Set adrift in a strange time and place that he doesn't understand, reality bites and bites hard. They say that grief comes in five stages. Fortunately for Jason he has Pythagoras to help him through them.

A story told through a series of conversations between two friends.

Summary: Jason has been poisoned by Pasiphae in an attempt to stop him marrying Ariadne and taking the throne. There is only one man with the knowledge, the skill, and the determination to save him, and Jason’s fate lies in the hands of his closest friend. The only question is how far is Pythagoras prepared to go, and how much is he willing to sacrifice to save Jason’s life?

Summary: When Pythagoras chooses to spend the night of the festival of Aphrodite, goddess of love, with his friends rather than with Icarus, it sets in motion a chain of events that neither of them could have predicted.

Hurt, angry and insecure, Icarus is easy prey for a woman who is not all she seems, and when she offers him a solution to his relationship problems he cannot resist. However, when he told the woman, “I never know what is going on in his head,” he never expected to wake up the following morning with the ability to hear Pythagoras’ thoughts.

Icarus knows he must find a way to break the enchantment, but even if he does, will Pythagoras ever be able to trust him again?

Summary: Mike was a werewolf, Henry was a vampire, so Mike didn’t trust Henry on principle. They were working together to stop a madman (madwoman?) from calling forth a demon, and that was it. The flirting was just Henry trying to get under Mike’s skin. And Mike did not need to get laid, no matter what Vicki and Dave thought.

Summary: Baz' Magic accidently becomes Bonded to the Greatest Git the World of mages has ever known. What does that mean for him? Nothing but crap. Baz has one or two secrets that he keeps very close to his chest, but being Bonded to Simon Sno doesn't exactly allow for a lot of privacy. He has to get out of the Bond, whatever it takes; he can't have his roommate (and soulmate) finding out he's a vampire, or worse, that he's gay.

Da Vinci’s Demons (STARZ):

Summary: When Alessandro threatens Francesco's daughters in order to take his place, Riario's desire to protect his cousins leads him to make a desperate bargain. He will wed Lucrezia and raise Amelia as if she were his own child.
Lucrezia's initial hatred of Riario begins to wane as he tries to prove his affection for her, and her companionship and compassion affect him in a positive way. The path to love and redemption however does not run smooth.

Summary: An article in a national newspaper brings Hilda and Evadne’s past back to haunt them. Thirty years earlier, while temporarily in charge of the Rosa Charles Opera Company, a great deal of money went missing and they were put on trial for theft. And though they escaped conviction, the true culprit was never found.

Now with all their neighbours treating them with suspicion, Evadne decides there’s only one thing to be done: she and Hilda will have to investigate the crime themselves…

Summary: Although House Riesen gave the appearance of protecting Vega's children, certain industries within the once decadent Las Vegas still remained....

Abandoned by father at the age of eleven, Alex is left to fight for his very survival in a city where children kill each other just to ensure a larger portion of rations. So when the chance at a comfortable life is offered, Alex says yes without a moment’s hesitation, and all he has to do is agree to partake in a ceremony called “The Proposal,” where the elite of Vega vie for the hands of Madam’s students.

As his final year draws to an end, Alex has resigned himself to his fate of becoming a consort to one of Vega's elite until Archangel Michael steps in with plans of his own. Plans that Alex never dreamed he'd have a choice in.

Eagle of the Ninth, The (Rosemary Sutcliff):

Summary: Sixty years after the Eagle of the Ninth, Cottia still lives on the farm in the Downs that she, Marcus and Esca set up together. Britain is in confusion after four years of civil war across the Empire. The great house of Placidus backed the wrong imperial claimant, and now young Servius Placidus, the last of a long line, is on the run from the newly-established Emperor Severus's revenge. Then one of Severus's men is found dead....

I'm afraid Marcus and Esca are dead by this time, as you might expect, but this story does not cover their deaths.

Summary: "We don't have the budget to pay two detectives on this assignment. Besides, you need someone you can convincingly pass off as a husband. Someone who will make it easier for you to blend in and be involved with the community."

The shoe that had landed on her head lodged in Toni's throat. There was one person who fit that description, and things tended to go ass over teakettle when he got involved with their cases.

Summary: Things have always been weird in Eerie, and Dash and Simon have learned to handle it without Teller. But when investigating the Eerie lake goes wrong and leaves Simon in critical condition, Dash has to call on Marshall for help. Except Mars has moved on from Eerie, Indiana. He has a life outside the weirdness. But the weirdness doesn't want to let him go. Doesn't want to let any of them go.

Eureka (SyFy):

From the Dust of Another Life by tarlanx (Jack/Nathan; NC17;AU)
Summary: When Nathan restarts the photon he ends up in another time stream but in this one he can find no evidence of Jack ever being the Sheriff of Eureka. In the meantime two serious events had befallen Eureka over the past year, causing problems for Global Dynamics in particular. Nathan had arrived in a time stream where half the state of Oregon had been declared a disaster zone following a major earthquake in what should have been a stable area. Most of the Eurekans had managed to reach Global Dynamics in time and were safe in the underground parts of the facility but, for the second time in a year, Global Dynamics was buried under tons of rubble. As he looks over the differences between his time stream and this one, Nathan realizes the major difference was the missing Jack Carter, and is surprised at how much this loss has affected him personally.

Eureka (SyFy) [fusion with Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Ransom Riggs)]:

Nathan Stark's Town for Peculiar People by glitterfics (Jack/Nathan, Jo/Taggart, ensemble; NC17; fusion, romance, humour, supernatural)
Summary: Jack Carter and his daughter Zoe experience a pretty disastrous start to their road trip vacation when they get completely lost out in the middle of nowhere and then crash the car. They seek refuge in the nearby town of Eureka and discover a whole new world of 'peculiars' - people with extraordinary gifts, hiding from the rest of the world and, more importantly, from the monsters that hunt them.

Of course, it's just Jack's luck that the monsters chose that moment to find them and he gets dragged into the town's fight for their lives, discovering his own gift along the way as well as having to cope with his intense reaction's to Eureka's stupidly handsome mayor.

Summary: "A rather unique location?" Grayson, who is apparently incapable of keeping his mouth shut even under pain of death, asks with that certain obtuse wrinkle of his forehead that inevitably means he's several steps behind, "are we supposed to guess, or...?"

"A resort for married couples," Matron answers sharply, but the roll of her eyes is fond. Too fond, "gay married couples, to be exact."

Live Free or Die Hard (2007):

Dragon Attack by severina2001 (John/Matt; PG13; action, comedy)
Summary: No. No way. Dragons? Dragons only exist in folklore and a couple of supremely cool video games, and ol' AC has clearly hit his head if he thinks that mythical beings have somehow decimated Times Square.


Indelible by persnickett (John/Matt; PG13; romance)
Summary: It happened mostly at night, when John gave up staring sleeplessly at the ceiling turning his latest cases over and over in his mind until he gave up on sleep and let the memories of old ones take over. He had thought of looking the kid up a couple of times in those wakeful, ill-advised wee hours, but something always stopped him.


Man From UNCLE, The (2015):

Truth Within the Lies by guineamania (Illya Kuryakin/Napoleon Solo; PG13; action, romance)
Summary: Illya is sent undercover in New York to smoke out a smuggling ring that is expecting a big shipment very soon. However as he tries to blend in as a normal American guy he meets Napoleon, a charming handsome barista at Waverly's favourite coffee place. As they grow closer Illya feels guilt, for possibly the first time in his life, about lying to his possible boyfriend.

But even this relatively normal aspect of his life doesn't stay that way for long as Illya is forced to compromise his ideals and has to evaluate all that he thought he knew about his relationship with Napoleon. Their paths crossed at work and in their social lives but neither knew the other’s intentions with Victoria Vinciguerra.

Illya has to find a way to keep his cover, take down Victoria, keep Gaby’s cover and save Napoleon’s life. All in a day’s work for UNCLE.

Summary: Sadakichi never thought he'd find the strength to set foot on the soil that was stained with the blood of his friends but the man known for having a heart of steel turned out to be the one who would help him find his ground and piece together what was left of his broken soul.


Mummy, The (movies):

the light by which my spirit's born by starr_falling (Jonathan/Ardeth; NC17; supernatural, romance)
Summary: After being attacked by a werewolf, Ardeth goes to the O'Connells looking for a safe place to spend his first full moon. Jonathan is the only one in residence and agrees to guard Ardeth to ensure he doesn't escape and hurt anyone when he transforms.

The enforced closeness brings them together and they begin a relationship even though they're uncertain what will happen after the full moon, when Ardeth must return home.

The Muppets Take Las Vegas by lazydazyfics (PG13; fusion)
Summary: Scooter is getting married and his close friends decide a weekend in Vegas is what he needs before the big day, but the weekend doesn't quite go to plan. They wake up the next morning with no memory of the night before and no Scooter.

What did they get up to that night? Where is Scooter? Will they find him in time for his wedding? Did the Muppets take Las Vegas or did Las Vegas take the Muppets?


Olympus Has Fallen (2013):

Summary: People are disappearing, and the Agency has been asked to help investigate the problem.


Parenthood (tv):

Goodbyes & Grief, Hellos & Hope by luvtheheaven (Mark/Sarah, Amy/Drew, Haddie/Lauren, Julia/Joel, Victor, Adam; PG13; drama)
Summary: Victor misses his biological mother, and who can blame the 9-year-old? He might not have it as bad as his adoptive cousin, who is grieving his mother's death, but nonetheless Victor is experiencing his own form of grief.

The young boys aren't the only Bravermans who need to adjust to a life they never would have imagined they'd be living, though.

Mark Cyr realizes that having children of his own just isn't as important to him as having Sarah Braverman as his wife.

And two other young women become "honorary" Bravermans before long.

Despite the tragic loss of one family member, it takes a whole hand worth of fingers to count all the new members they've gained.

Summary: Cliff thought his days as the Rocketeer were over, but it turns out the Nazis have one last spy to use. Now, he must take up the mantle of the Rocketeer again to stop this spy.

Scrubs (tv):

His Motherhood by hannahrorlove (Perry Cox/Jordan Sullivan; NC17; drama, romance, science fiction, mpreg)
Summary: Cox had thought he’d learned he’d always be alone, and was trying to come to accept what he knew life held for him. Even after finding out about an upcoming medical study that was barely discussed by the medical profession, derided by all respectable sources, fully aware of what it promised and certain he’d never be invited – he surprised himself and applied just the same. Even when his application for an interview passed and he was invited to see if he qualified for rejection, he didn't allowed himself to hope. But maybe it was possible he hadn’t learned as well as he'd thought.

A story about love, family, building and breaking and repairing attachments, and how to carry the past and move into the future.

Sense8 (Netflix):

Summary: Lito Rodriguez, Mexico's favorite movie and telenova superstar live a double life. One where he's the hero and the other where he's barely existing. Upon meeting Hernando, a man who immediately takes his breath away he must face the way he's been living so far, having to decide between his lie and the truth, which for once is much better than any lie could ever be.

Summary: The world is finally at peace under the gentle guidance of the Goddess and Her avatar, Corona. However, a growing number of individuals are waking up with knowledge of their previous life. They are also aware, through dreams and visions, that something is still wrong with the world. Acting against the Goddess' will, they go on a journey to follow the trail of their past life memories.

Summary: With Malcolm's resignation all over the news Grey knows two things - it isn't for real, and despite their break-up , she can't just leave him to deal with the aftermath on his own, even if it means putting herself back into a life she doesn't want to be in.
